Snag made it to Martin around 10:30 AM and after warming up a bit we headed north. Lunch was at Snag's favorite cafe, right off of HWY3 in Cairo, IL

We made it to the entrance into MITM at about 5:00.

Bikes to the left of us...

Bikes to the right!

TonyD invited us to camp with them, so we pulled around behind the Chow House and set up tents.

That's my tent in the foreground, Snag's is behind it. The next one was Steve Liggett, luckily his tent was identical to the one I had borrowed and he showed me how they set up. Thanks, Steve!

I then went about putting some faces to names.

Most folks were camping in the back 40.

Looking back the way you came in, the beer and soda wagons were on your left,

And the Grub Shack was on your right. They had BBQ sandwiches Friday night, so I dined in.

Showers had been arranged about 3 miles away at the Brittany Shooting Club, Saturday morning. They also served Breakfast.

I ate there, then tightened my chains before I took a shower. Anyone pick up my toothpaste? I left it on the sink... :-(

I came back and almost lost it on the gravel road to Butch and Pat's. Well, I guess loose, golf ball sized crushed rock is considered gravel. There were folks headed out as I was headed in, and I was trying hard to keep to my side. I could see myself going down and causing a line of bikes coming the other way to have to dump theirs... not a good way to meet folks...

I parked the Whatzit in the main area.

After putting some more faces and voices to names, I decided to look at some of the bikes. I'm more interested in the older ones, so that's what I took the most pictures of.

MaGGie's Tasty Shovel was one of the few older bikes that were ridden in.

Charlie's Pan looks great. We had met Friday and had looked over each others scoots.

This bike was kind of opposite of mine, an alternator lower with STD Pan head upper.

Other side

I helped unload this poor thing out of a van.

I thought this was a trike at first, but on closer inspection it was a second set of wheels mounted to the rear.

Ironhorse brought the sidecar rig. He had followed me to the Hunting Club and I got him lost...

Redbeard had his Custom Shovel, complete with flames...

Did someone say BBQ dinner time?

Then it was hanging out

until the campfire and awards.

Sunday morning Snag and I broke camp and headed out around 8:00 AM. We hit light rain most of the way, and since he wore glasses, I wanted him to lead in case it got too rough for him to see he could pull us over. It was about a 6 hour ride home for me and a couple more for him. I pulled in around 2:00 PM, patted the Whatzit on the seat and promised to wash it as soon as I could. I went in the house and Karen asked me if BBQ chicken sounded good for supper...

That's a sneaky way to get me to take her out to dinner at the steakhouse.

Been there...

Done that...
