THE SPAM PAGE

A little explanation is in order:

Once I had the final "Building The Whatzit" pages set up, I wanted a wacky way to post to the group to let them know they were out there. I figured that posting a message like a typical spammer would be a hoot. So, under the header "Whatzit Wrenchin' Wupdate" I sent out:

Wow! I just found the coolest site on the web! Check it out!

http://www.utm.edu/~relmore/Whatzit/Whatzit.htm

Now I figured I was running the risk of landing in some killfiles, but if someone ploinked me without even checking the site, that was the price I was willing to pay. But lo and behold, soon there came a reply:

Wow RogerElmore wants us to go to relmore to see something he just

found! You're a fucking moron if "you just found it".

Eat Shit.

Fuck You.

You are too stupid to have a website.

What are you 12?

Of course I was ROTFLMAO. Now all the quotes on the site are real, from the first time I posted to the group on building the bike except that I had a bogus quote attributed to John Corless saying "Abuse Report Filed", because I needed the filler and I thought it was good for a chuckle. But as soon as I got the flame, I replaced the bogus quote with Len's message. Soon, Dan Ellis came to my "rescue" and flamed Len:

If you had taken time to check the site before your started your impressing us with your amazing four letter word vocabulary, you would know that what he "found" is the pride and sense of accomplishment that can only be gained by seeing a project through with your own hands (maybe a little help here and there). Hat's off to ya, Roger, awesome build up. After visiting your site I really wish I had stocked up on film and documented my project from day one the way you did. And to you, Len, I see you as another self rightous pothole on this otherwise smooth highway of information.

And so it started... Reaper chimed in:

Well said.

A nice site, with a good project well documented.

You should be proud of your work, Roger.

But Len was replying to Dan:

>Dan Ellis wrote:

>If you had taken time to check the site before your started your impressing us

I did. Glad you were impressed.

<snip Dan's opinion... everyone has one even me (or am I not allowed to have one?)>

>And to you, Len, I see you as another self rightous pothole on

>this otherwise smooth highway of information.

Self rightous? What do you think your answer to me is?

Oh yeah, this is a real smooth highway... NOT.

Now, go back and look at his web site again. He put *my* response out on his web site, not yours. He did it for one of 2 reasons that I can

think of:

1. He's trying to embarrass me. (ain't gonna happen, I don't take myself that seriously) As anyone who's met me IRL knows. And if you

haven't met me, you probably wish you did.

2. He THOUGHT MY RESPONSE WAS FUNNY AND ANTICIPATED IT. (notice the SPAM on his web site?).

Either way,,, he wins, you lose. You have no sense of humor, I think Roger does.

Later, The Big Guy raised his head off the bar and wrote:

Cool site, Good job on the bike, one question.

If it is your site, how did you find it?

I mean, did you develop it then found it or did someone steal your pics and

set up the site in your name/

You may have to buy me a beer and explain this to me, because I just can't

figure it out.

I thought for a while and came up with:

>If it is your site, how did you find it?

The voices... The voices told me the URL.

>I mean, did you develop it then found it or did someone steal your pics and set up the site in your name/

Your confusing us... err... me...

>You may have to buy me a beer and explain this to me, because I just can't figure it out.

What, Mommie? Oh.

Sorry, I have to go into the closet and hold my water.

Now Len was still out there and said:

When you're done wanking in the closet,,, are we gonna get any drinks outta going over and looking at that web site done by a 12 year old?

To which Reaper replied:

You REALLY are an idiot, aren't you?

And Len fired back:

YOU REALLY don't have a clue, do you?

And Reaper replied:

If putting someone down for a great project bike, meticulously planned and documented on a nice web page, requires YOUR kind of clue...

...I don't need one.

Nice bike, Roger. You should still be proud, no matter WHAT the touchy idiot above says.

This was getting good! Len posted:

>>>Reaper wrote:

>Then Reaper threw down the gauntlet in defense of his new found friend:

I think it's called... fishing. Roger caught the first one with his SPAM Web Site, and I've got a LARGE MOUTHED one on the line,,, just a

few more posts and I'll have it in the boat. I do catch and release though, that way I can catch 'em again.

> Nice bike, Roger. You should still be proud, no matter WHAT the touchy idiot above says.

Oh,,, he's in the boat!

Now I'll throw you back because you're such a little fish.

There are more posts on the subject, but you can do a Deja search if you're curious, there's some funny stuff. Anyway, here's the page that started it all:
