It has to be because of the Shovelhead engine, but why in the world don't they catalog them by engine type and sell them that way, rather than catalog them by frame type!
Anyone need an oil filter bracket for a PANHEAD in a 6 VOLT SWINGARM FRAME???!!!! I GOT A SPARE I'LL SELL CHEAP!!!
Anyway, here's the filter mounted. I have the crimp on band clamps and tool, but I'm using the geared hose clamps until I'm sure there are no leaks. Heck, I might just leave them... be easier to fix on the road if I ever had to.
Someday I'll tell you what a PITA those Paughco stock type 2 into 1 pipes were to put on. It's a horrible tale that involves a bandsaw and a bench grinder among other power tools, after a trip to the local Master Muffler. That "patient workmanship" Jinks spoke of kinda went out the window so there's no play by play photos of the exhaust install. I used a new set of the Stage 8 Shur-Lock fasteners on the headpipes.
Let's face it, there's not too many choices in pipes for generator Shovels, since the MoCo only made the engine style from 1966-1969. The previous pipes were the same style but bought in separate pieces from Midwest rather than as a complete set like the Paughco I had so much trouble with. They went on with slightly less difficulty (is there some trick to it?), but oddly the Paughco, once finally fitted, matched up to the mounting tab on the frame perfectly. I had to file on the Midwest one to oval the hole to match the frame mount.
That exhaust mounting tab, in the area next to the oil pressure switch, is one of only 2 of the original mounts that were torched off this frame before I owned it. Pretty good survival record for a frame during the chopper years. I had a welder down the street use the tail of a P-clamp to replace the amputated mount... the previous owner hadn't ground down the cut so we knew where to tack it on, just not exactly how high the hole should be.
Oh yeah, the other mount that got whacked? For the jack. The jack you say? Check this out.
